question about animal control ???

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

You should be able to do that. But, the question is will animal control come pick them up or would you have to take them in yourself.

You could call them to find out.

You could also check with the State & County Animal Control Rules & Regs. pertaining to stray cats. What is required by the owner & as to what you can legally do about it. How many can she have? What does Animal Control HAVE TO DO about it? Team up with neighbors & everyone start making reports? Show them how to make the trap & enlist their help. Contact some of the rescue places & see if they can offer advise or perhaps provide the trap or a place to take the cats.

My mother has spent a fortune on spaying/neutering stray cats that she can trap. Some disappear, some stay for life, some were neighbors cats but…. Oh Well…..at least they aren’t breeding. Right now she has about 20 (all spayed & neutered) with occasional visitors now & then. She buys 80 lb.s of cat food a month.

Best of luck to you & your efforts.

Somebody ask what you would do if you all of a sudden had one million dollars. My answers was to, at night, I’d kidnap pets that weren’t spayed or neutered & get them fixed & within two days have them back home. My answer wasn’t very well liked.

Are the people accountable to the government or the government accountable to the people?

Monday, August 11th, 2008

The government should be accountable to the people. You are right; this is the true question in the fight for homeschool freedom. In theory, people should be glad that so many families are bearing the expense of educating their own children as this saves the government money. However, because some people can not or will not take responsibility for educating their own children, they get angry/hostile toward others who do.

I have only been homeschooling for about a year, and generally speaking, have not had negative comments made to me about homeschooling. I had to educate one young lady (a college early education major) who question me about whether homeschooling was legal and asked if school officials needed to come and do a home check to see if I had all the necessary things to homeschool, i.e., desk, books, teacher certification, etc. Many U.S. citizens are so used to the government doing things for them, they simply can’t imagine someone taking the initiative to educate their own child(ren).

Homeschoolers must continue to fight the good fight of faith for homeschool freedom. I am definitely a solder in the army.

Crossing the Spain / Gibralter crossing - car or foot?

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

I would certainly recommend walking across the border to La Linea, where you have a choice of taxi or bus. Casares is 17 miles from La Linea or about 4 and a half miles from Estepona. There is a bus, run by the Portillo bus company, to Estepona, the fare being 3.64 euros. You could then get a taxi from Estepona to Casares. The downside to bus travel, however, is that there is little or no space for cases.
A taxi would, therefore, seem to offer the better option and it would be cheaper to do the journey both ways by taxi, than to hire a car, which by your own admission you are unlikely to use. The number for the taxis in La Linea is - 956 174 800.
A further alternative exists in the form of a mini bus transfer from Gibraltar airport, with “Leisure bus”. I have provided a link to them, and it might pay to e-mail them for a quote for the return trip.

Careers in anthropology?

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

At the BA level you will not find much in the area of working in the field of anthropology, unless you have an archaeological field school under your bealt in which case you can work for a CRM (cultural resource management) firm as an field technician. However the work is difficult and the pay is low. At the PhD level one is over qualified for most jobs in the private sector that utilize anthropologists. To actually work in anthropology at the appropriate level, a master’s degree is usually preferred. A common misconception is that you will be able to work in a museum. Although that might have been true in the past, museum jobs are now regulated with people who pursue museum studies in college and curatorial backgrounds.

Jobs that one can find in anthropology include (but not limited to): government work in historic preservation, archaeology departments, ethnographers, etc. As for the private sector you can work for a CRM firm as a project manager or be hired to be a coorporate anthropologist (anthropologists who study coorporate structure to better infrastructure/productivity). The truth is your career is going to be made by your level of education and the coursework/research you have completed.

Myself, I have an MA in anthropology. My thesis entailed archaeology and GIS (computer mapping). I work in the GIS field doing cultural resource research and mapping. Like I said, your coursework and research will dictate your career for the most part if you decide to pursue a career in anthropology. If you would like to just teach then you’ll need your PhD. Good luck!

Desert eagal .357?

Monday, August 4th, 2008

In this particular pistol what counters recoil more than the weight of the gun itself is the gas operated mechanism, according to some people the perceived recoil of a .357 is comparable to that of a .22, I can’t attest to this since I haven’t had the chance of shooting a .357 but the recoil I felt from a .50 AE was manageable, especially if the application is hunting where immediate follow up shots are seldom required (like in action shooting) If you are really concerned about recoil I’d suggest looking into a longer barrel (10-inch) to add a bit more weight to the front of the gun and get higher bullet velocity, also consider having custom work on the barrel by a company called MagNaPort International, they cut precise ports on the muzzle to divert gases and help to counter recoil. As far as going with a higher caliber remember that a heavier bullet requires more propellant to generate good speed, so typically the bigger the caliber the bigger the recoil. Does anyone own a rainbow vacuum cleaner, and if so, is it worth the money?

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

Take a look at this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RveYYGg6hzU

The Miele Callisto has an awesome SEB 217 Powerhead. It has the best edge cleaning ever. If you use this vacuum to pick up bird seed on a carpeted floor along the edges of your wall it will pick up ever piece guarantee it. You can use the powerhead on the bare floor which does a wonderful job. It has a squeegee underneath to really seal to the ground as well as all rubber wheels that will not scratch your floors. But if you want to use an even nicer tool it comes with an SBB 300-3 Floorbrush which is amazing. It has super wide holes all around and it will pick every up as well. it barely feels like you are pushing anything and it has a knuckle which allows you to twist and turn into and spot you want like behind the toilets, buffet table, couches and the floorbrush itself is low enough to get under the baseboards and kickjams. The filtration is 99.95% effective at 0.3 microns which is amazing. Thanks to its HEPA filter and super intensive clean bags the vacuum is able to achieve this kind of filtration. This a much better cleaner machine.
I bought my Miele Callisto from Mr. Vac and Mrs. Sew for only $699 with free shipping and no tax (because I do not live in new york). They were wonderful to deal with and they made my shopping experience a pleasant one. Here is their number (you have to call them up to get that price because that price can not be found anywhere on the Internet):

1-800-640-8227

Tell Lisa and Joe Kevin told you about it.

Why does fox news in the USA have such ignorant news castors who cut people off and twist the news to suite?

Friday, August 1st, 2008

The USA is so keen on private enterprise that they don’t understand that news and some other essential services are in need of government control or help. In Canada and Britain there is government helped news service. I say helped because no one in either country would say that they are controlled. The news tends to be more and better coverage and is award winning around the world. The Americans rely on private enterprise which is controlled by the rich owners. They make sure that the news is told from the slant that the owners set as approved. They hire people who have their slant. The news is too important a subject to be controlled by the rich. I am surprised at what types of subjects are covered by the Americans as well. Their news is half talk show for sure. The bad news is they are totally unaware how poor a coverage of events that they have. There will be no change until they understand that some socialism is good news.

what is the best software that can be used for internet cafe for?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

All entrepreneurs I know, especially those running internet cafes, are pretty much hands-on w/ their business - not relying solely on technology or someone else.

There is this software that i believe can protect a PC from any threat - DEEPFREEZE. the idea is once a PC has been installed with all the necessary softwares and applications, before renting it out, make sure DEEPFREEZE is installed and activated. it basically does not allow anything to be added to your PC, as in nothing. all supposed downloads, saved items, etc. get erased once the PC is shut down. by the time it is turned on again, it will be back it it’s exact setup with DEEPFREEZE being the last one installed.

no need for firewalls and anti-viruses as nothing gets saved anyway.
